How is snowboarding compared to skiing?

've been inline skating my whole life, so naturally I chose to ski. But snowboarding looks interesting, and kids my age think it's cooler or harder or something.


What muscle groups does it work?


Is it harder to learn a board sport if you are a skater?


Why do some people think it's "cooler" when it's really not?

How is snowboarding compared to skiing?
Partly why snowboarding is "in" is because older people like our parents didn't have snowboarding when they were younger, so its almost like a rebel thing, or just doing something our parents can't do.





Snowboarding is street influenced so the style is geared towards how kids dress today, whereas a lot of the typical ski clothing is conservative and not really urban at all.





Snowboarding makes all your muscles sore the first few times, legs, abs, arms, and possibly neck! And thats not counting if you fall or not.





Most of the skiers on the mountain do look pretty fruity, which doesn't help the sport's rep. There are definitely some cool @ss skiers that know what they're doing, style wise, but the majority just look nerdy. When skiers wear snowboard clothing, then they are O.K.

i think it would be harder to learn a board sport if you are a skater because its harder to snowboard then to ski in general. on boards you're sideways while skiing you are well the way you are when you stand. also on a snowboard you lean left to go right and vice versa.





why ppl think its cooler? who knows? mayb because its more challenging, but i dont know. and i think what you want to do is much cooler than what other ppl think. you shouldnt do sumthin just because other ppl think its cool. b urself : )

It works your legs a lot!! I think I would be easier being a skater, although there totally different.
